January 9: Suicide and Self-Harm Awareness Workshop will be held at Ascend Leadership Academy in Sanford. Focus will be adolescents and discussion will include: definitions of self-harm and suicidal ideation, how self-harm and suicidal ideation relate and differ, treatments and coping strategies, and awareness and prevention. Light dinner will be served at 6:00p.m.

January 13: Paper Tigers Film Viewing and monthly parent education and support meeting at the First Baptist Church in Sanford. Light dinner served at 5:30p.m. Viewing of the film, Paper Tigers, regarding the success of a trauma informed high school. Childcare is available upon request.

January 16: Resilience: The Biology of Stress & The Science of Hope Screening and panel discussion offered by the Harnett County Partnership for Children, Prevent Child Abuse NC, and Solid Rock Ministries United Methodist Church. This film centers around childhood trauma and the adverse effects on health over a lifetime and the role that everyone in the community can play in reversing these adverse effects. Breakfast will be catered, free of charge, and sponsored by Biscuitville of Cameron, N.C. January 21: Monthly Family Support Meeting will be held at the Harnett County Family Connections Building. Light lunch will be served. This is a time for those with children who have behavioral, emotional, and/or learning challenges to share their experiences and learn from others.
